DIGITAL LEARNING - TIR COED

Digital Learning is a pilot project by the charity – Tir Coed. The purpose of Digital Learning  is to pilot bilingual, digitised learning in the outdoor environment through developing two existing woodland-based courses that include health & safety and sustainability elements - Sustainable Woodland Management and Woodland Carpentry.

The project will create a digital learning platform and resources, whilst also increasing inclusivity and accessibility of learning. This will also enable those with additional learning needs, sensory impairments, disabilities or caring commitments to access the provision.

The project activities will also aim to:

  • Increase the digital and other skills levels, employability, confidence, nature connection and local awareness of a more inclusive group of learners
  • Make Tir Coed more resilient; offering learning options that can endure future pandemic/economic/environmental/climate crises by being accessible remotely
  • Contribute to Tir Coed’s proposed sustainable land management qualification “Gofalu”
  • Benefit 250 registered Agored Cymru learning centres throughout Wales
  • Investigate whether, and if so how, digitalised learning can improve learners’ outcomes
  • Provide a legacy of digital learning methodology for Tir Coed and for the local community, including ‘How To’ guides, reports and case studies

A wide range of people will benefit from this project including; young people, Welsh speakers, Black, ethnic and minority groups, individuals with disabilities and all young individuals.
